Information to Bholaganj :

The largest stone quarry in the country, Bholaganj of Companyganj upazila of Sylhet. Meghalaya state’s Khasia Jaintia hills, in the rainy season. The stone comes down with the dhalai river. Stone accumulation till the arrival of the next monsoon. There is also the BholaGonj Ropeway project, built in 1964-1969, at a cost of Taka 2 crores – with a length of 11 miles and Tower Exclusion Plant, 120. The extracted stone chhatak was sent to the cement factory. After 1994, stone lifting was stopped in this method.The 20-minute engine boats are located at a distance from the special quarry. Originally called the special quarry, this area is very close to the border. From there, the beauty of nature can be enjoyed very much.

Stone retrieval scene in Bholaganj :

In the Bholaganj quarry, the dry season is mainly used to dig out the stones. In this process, the workers remove the upper sand of the quarry at first. Phases gradually digging down the hole and going down. After digging 7/8 feet below the pit, the water in the quarry goes up. When the water gets up, the workers lift the stones by removing the quarry with the shaleo machine. Outside, stones were hoisted in ‘Shiva boat’ system. The way to lift the stone is by using this method – Shaleo machine engines are plugged in an empty boat. The engine fan wanders under the water. The clay continues to soften and the soil becomes soft after rotating the fan continuously. The researchers pick up stones in the boat with jingles. In this process, thousands of workers lift stones. Stone lift scenes are very enjoyable in this method.

How can you go Bholaganj :

Location of Bholaganj is 33 km away from Sylhet. There is no direct transit system. From Sylhet to public bus or CNG subway, you have to go to the market. Going from the market to the market again go to Bholaganj. If you want to go to the special quarry, then the permission of the BDR will be allowed on the bank of the river. Engine boat hire up to BDT 1,500 / – to 2000 / -. Because these boats are used to lift stones. There are plenty of income in the middle of this season. As a result, if people do not rent equal amount of stones to transport, they do not agree to pay rent. BDR post in special quote also. It is better to move around the border area in their notice. The condition of Sylhet-Bholganj road is very dreadful. If you do not have a vehicle, it will be difficult to travel with the woman / child. Although the road distance from Sylhet city is less, the road will take approximately one and a half hours.

Where to Stay in Bholaganj :

There is a rest house of the district council, under the control of the Upazila Nirbahi Officer. To stay, the permission of the Upazila Executive Officer is to get permission. Besides, there is no better system for staying in Bholaganj or Companyganj upazila. You can stay in Sylhet after the completion of Bholaganj visit.
